Kristin

I dedicated the book to my wife, Kristin. This woman in the crowd is not Kristin at all. In fact Kristin says she will never act as my assistant. I think she thinks being a magician's assistant is beneath her. She is more the headliner type than the assistant type. Kristin is performing her famous vanishing margarita trick, at the left. The character names were all changed to family and friends after I'd completed the story. I thought that it would be something I could do that would be fun for the whole family. So I simply did a search and replace function on the manuscript. Thus a lot of the characters are named people that I know or relatives. Here are a few examples: Kirk - Brother, Carl - Brother, Stuart - Brother, John - Dad, Amy - Mother, Ron - Cousin. The main character, James Carpenter was a compilation of a friends of mine. I did like the fact that the initials were JC and that Jesus was in fact a "carpenter." For those who didn't catch on at first I even gave James the middle name of "Christian."
